The cumulative length of the cross-country ski trail network in Bregenzerwald is 300 km. It leads across flood plains, through snow-covered forests, over broad meadows, past birch groves and typical shingled wooden houses. In Sulzberg and Hittisau cross-border trails lead to Allgäu in Bavaria. The largest cross-country ski areas are those in Hittisau – Balderschwang (80) km, Au-Schoppernau (63 km) and Sulzberg-Oberreute (40 km). Both classic and skating cross-country ski trails are available.

Cross-country skiing is very popular as an alternative to alpine skiing or as a great way to get exercise and rejuvenate in the fresh air. It’s even better when the trails are as wonderfully groomed as those in Bregenzerwald.
