Via Stuttgart – Singen – Lindau or via Ulm – Memmingen – Lindau. On the A96 (Munich – Lindau/Lake Constance), the drive from Munich to Bregenz takes about two hours.
From the West
Via the Swiss freeways via Zurich – St. Gallen – St. Margrethen and via Zurich – Walensee – Sargans.
From the south
via Como (I/CH) – San Bernardino – Chur, via the Reschen Pass (I/A) – Landeck and via the Brenner Highway (I/A) – Innsbruck.
From the east
via the Austrian highway via Innsbruck – Landeck – Arlberg road tunnel or pass; via Landeck – Silvretta high alpine road; via Reutte – Lechtal.

Vignette obligation
The use of Austrian freeways and expressways is subject to tolls. For journeys in Vorarlberg, there are several vignette variants to choose from (the 2023 price details refer to passenger cars):

The toll road A 14 Rheintal/Walgau Autobahn between the state border at Hörbranz and the Hohenems junction, is (temporarily) toll-free (as of 2023).
E-mobility
Charging options for e-cars are available in abundance in the Bregenzerwald. Charging points of “vlotte” (illwerke vkw) are available in almost every community. “vlotte” is also a roaming partner of the most important providers in Austria (such as Wien Energie, Smatrics, etc.) and can also be activated with these charging cards. People without a charging card can charge with their smartphone via PayPal or credit card at all “vlotte” charging stations that have a QR code. In addition, numerous hotels in the Bregenzerwald offer their own charging stations directly in front of their hotel. The respective hotels provide information about the conditions.
