Kulisse Pfarrhof in Damüls

100 years of skiing history and tourism in Damüls: Exhibition: “Wälder.Walser.Wintersport."

The erstwhile parsonage of Damüls is now a museum. The ‘Kulisse Pfarrhof’ museum displays exhibitions about local history and winter sports. It was certified by the FIS in 2017 and remains Vorarlberg’s only FIS ski museum.

The parsonage in Damüls enjoys a prominent location below the St. Nikolaus church in Damüls, practically right on the ski slope. This means that visitors can leave their skis and boots outside the door and visit the exhibition on the first floor wearing borrowed slippers. Concerts take place in summertime in the former parish stable next door.

Walser people

Damüls is one of a select few villages in Vorarlberg to have been originally settled by the Walser people in the 14th century. The museum tackles the 700-year history of the village and also features the contemporary immigration stories of locals. This helps to make history more tangible for a younger audience.

Winter sports

Exhibits, primarily collected from Christian Lingenhöle from Bregenz, provide insights into the 100-year history of skiing in the village. The former owner of a sports shop and a Damüls resident by choice, Lingenhöle collected numerous historical and modern ski models as well as plenty of winter-sports accessories.
