Angelika Kauffmann – Unknown Treasures from Vorarlberg Private Collections.
15 June to 3 November 2019

Many treasures by the famous painter Angelika Kauffmann (1741 to 1807) are being shown for the first time: around 150 paintings, drawings and prints, which were lovingly collected and protected in Vorarlberg, are being exhibited for the first time in the vorarlberg museum in Bregenz and in the Angelika Kauffmann Museum in Schwarzenberg. While working on the catalogue raisonné , the curator Bettina Baumgärtel has been successful in rediscovering many an image in Vorarlberg that had been believed lost. The show is being complemented by unique loans from public collections in Germany, England and Switzerland. Unique early works will be meeting later masterpieces in Schwarzenberg. A cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz in Saxony-Anhalt and the Angelika Kauffmann Research Project_AKRP.

Heimatmuseum (Museum of Local History)

“How it used to be like at home”

Who does the Bödele belong to?
2 February – 19 April 2020

The Bödele is where the people of Dornbirn go to spend time and relax. But it actually belongs to the municipality of Schwarzenberg. And contrasts seem to be the order of the day here: holiday homes belonging to factory owners and protected raised bogs, luxury hotels and alpine economy, World Cup downhill events and family skiing, motorcycle racing and meditation in an ashram. The Bödele is a focal point of social and historical change. This fact is revealed at the exhibitions in Schwarzenberg and in the Stadtmuseum Dornbirn (city museum), which also provide scope for the protagonists to have their say.
