The Arzthaus (Dr’s house) is the museums main location. The initiator for the museum was Ulrich Mittelberg, a veterinarian from Alberschwende. He collected everything that otherwise might have been lost for future generations or just fallen prey to dealers. With the support of two architects, the museum opened in July 1977 and was newly renovated in 2000.
The satellite station “Mesmers Stall” (sacristan’s barn), which is located near the church, stemmed from a substantial agricultural collection. The former sacristan’s economic building houses exhibitions on the topic “history of agriculture.”
