Safety tips
Snowshoe walking has to be carefully planned to prevent any possible risk.
Please note: snowshoe walking is done at your own risk.
How to plan a tour:
- The equipment should consist of waterproof trekking or snowboard boots, ski wear (several layers), a functional top to change, gloves and a cap. Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Also take along a snack and (warm) drinks.
- Get information about the avalanche risk and the weather situation.
- Do not walk on slopes steeper than 30°.
- Don’t leave too late – in winter dusk sets in at around 4.30 pm.
- Do not walk in case of snowfall or foggy weather.
- Maps, altimeter and a compass are important as they will guide you.
- Take along a bivouac bag, a head lamp, a cell phone and a first aid box.
