Selected stations of the Bregenzerwald Cheese Street

Along the Bregenzerwald Cheese Street you will learn how milk becomes cheese, how cheese tastes and what can be made with cheese.

Learn to produce cheese
For many years the creative farmer Ingo Metzler and his family have been producing cosmetic products made from whey and whey drinks. He erected a modern building in the course of expanding his business and he established Vorarlberg’s first dairy school. Within four hours every student produces his own wheel of cheese which can be taken home.

Andelsbuch cheese house
It’s open 7 days a week and situated in the centre of Andelsbuch. It’s an ideal outing on the weekend and the place to try different sorts of cheese and buy regional specialties. Every Sunday at 4pm you can watch how cheese is made.

Showcase dairies
Watch how cheese is made at one of the small dairy farms: at the alpine dairy Bergkäserei Schoppernau, the historic dairy Nostalgiesennerei Au-Rehmen or the modern dairy Sulzberg.

Bregenzerwald Cheese Cellar
At the Bregenzerwald cheese cellar in Lingenau you can admire many thousand loafs of cheese which are stored there to age. In the shop you can buy different sorts of cheese and also try them.
Mon – Fri between 10am and 6pm, Sat between 9am and 5pm.

Nazes Hus in Mellau
The only listed house in Mellau was built several hundred years ago and extensively renovated in the meantime. A delicatessen shop offering numerous local wine and cheese products can be found in the house today.
